APPRECIATION SOCIETY OF FAIR FRIDAY

ASOFF was founded in 1973 by airline and travel agency guys who appreciated the tradition of a working man celebrating his release from work for his two weeks holiday at the Glasgow Fair and heading for the pub for a drink with his pals before going home.
Every Fair Friday we met in the upstairs lounge of The Horseshoe for a lunch, a few drinks and the general conviviality of the day by meeting up with similar minded friends.
Songs, accompanied by guitar and sometimes accordion were sung – beer was consumed in liberal quantities, and a good time was the order of the day.
We even had our own tie made .. If anyone is still around, and remembers the annual ASOFF Fair Friday in The Horseshoe, and you’ve got some photos / comments / stories of ASOFF days – get in touch and we’ll print them.
Sadly, most of the founder members have retired, died or just given up celebrating such event and last few Fair Fridays only 1 member turned up. So how about reviving an old tradition and get your workmates together and have a drink in The Horseshoe on Fair Friday.
You don’t need to be a member to join the Appreciation Society Of Fair Friday
Conviviality – Fond of feasting, drinking, and good company; sociable.
